Introduction

Epson WorkForce WF-3620 and WF-3640 feature new technology called PrecisionCore system. The new technology allows the print-head of an inkjet printer to produce better color quality and faster printing speed than a color laser model.

Epson WorkForce is a home office printer that has many features. Besides the PrecisionCore, they also have wireless connectivity and duplexing. Both WF-3620 and WF-3640 are multifunction printers that come with the ability to scan, copy, and fax documents or images in addition to print.

Epson WF-3640

The  Epson WF-3640 features the aforementioned PrecisionCore print-head. The system uses an MEMs (microelectromechanical) fabrication that allows the print-head to bring considerably more nozzles than previous designs.

To bring more nozzles, the size of every ink-droplet is reduced. However, there is the advantage of larger color gamut so the printer can more precisely recreate color combinations. Smaller ink-droplet also allows for quicker dry time and generally faster printing speed because there are more parts that work together at a time.

The printer’s fax function actually determines its own category as office printer. There is an option to email any document directly from the printer, and this means the fax feature may not be used very often.

You can connect the printer to a WiFi network or Ethernet to do the emailing; it also supports WiFi direct. Epson also allows you to access the printer from Apple AirPrint, Google Cloud Print, or the company’s own Epson Connect.

Epson WF-3640’s printing speed is rated at 17 copies per minute (black) and 9 copies per minute (color). Paper handling capacity is 500-sheet and there is a rear tray for cards, envelopes and other specialties.

You also get a 35-sheet automatic document feeder which supports duplexing, just like the printer itself. Navigating between options and functions are done via its 3.5-inch color touchscreen.

Numeric keypad is provided to enter number of copies you want or to dial fax numbers. Other buttons are well-placed on the front panel to switch between functions quickly. USB port and microSD card slot are accessible from the front for quick printing from flash drive or camera memory card.

Epson WF-3620

Epson made an identical printer to the WF-3640, and it is called the WF-3620. Almost everything on those two printers is exactly the same except only two things.

Epson WF-3620 is the more affordable one, but it does not have an extra paper tray to hold 500-sheet (250 sheets plain paper x 2 trays); it only has one paper tray to give 250-sheet capacity.

Another small difference is the WF-3620’s touchscreen control is only 2.7-inch. Apart from those little differences, both printers are exact twins. Epson WF-3620 is rated at the same cpm for both black and color printing. Connectivity options as well as external storage device compatibility are similar.

Introduction

As at writing, the Epson EX series starts with the base model EX3220. And there are at least five more models including the EX5220EX6220, EX7220, EX7230 Pro and EX7235 Pro.

All  of them have two main similarities; they all boast bright 3,000 lumens and are designed to be as simple as possible with easy adjustments and controls.

There are some distinctive features to set them apart from each other. For example, the EX5220 and EX7220 offer the same wireless connectivity but they are different in terms of resolution.

The Epson EX5220

Epson EX5220 is available from Amazon.com

As mentioned earlier, Epson EX5220 shines bright 3,000 lumens based on 3LCD technology developed by the company. This level of brightness is considered typical for today’s needs.

In terms of dimension, it is easy to notice that the projector is designed to be a portable device too. It measures at 3.1-inch H x 11.6-inch W x 9.0-inch D; it weighs 5.3 pounds. You can even say that this particular projector is user-friendly.

You can easily find focus ring, zoom ring, and a slider for keystone correction behind the lens. Simple Setup Suite allows user to get best performance in any room condition quickly, so the presentation can begin immediately.

When it comes to connectivity, Epson EX5220 actually provides plenty of ports to connect it to many source devices. The projector brings a range of ports including VGA-in, HDMI, type B USB port (for computer connectivity), and type A USB port (for thumb drive and WiFi adapter).

With the adapter, it can easily connect to your tablet, laptop, and smartphone wirelessly. It even has Plug & Play technology to project the contents on your flash drive instantly.

Its 3,000 lumens are bright as expected and you can see all the projection in 1024 x 768 pixels resolution quality.

The Epson EX7220

Epson EX7220 is available from Amazon.com

As the top of the range projector in Epson EX series, the EX7220 is expected to bring all the things you can find in all lower-specifications models.

Compared to the previously discussed projector, EX7220 almost has identical features including wireless connectivity, Simple Setup, Plug & Play technology, easy adjustments, etc.

The biggest advantage of EX7220 is its ability to project images in 1280 x 800 pixels resolution at 16:9 aspect ratio; an ideal projector for HD movies and videos.

Epson App

Epson also features an app called Epson iProjection which is compatible with Android and iOS devices to work with EX7220 and EX5220. It is a freely available app to download from App Store and Google Play. Once configured and synced, the app allows you to send images for the projector to display.

It also does more complicated functions such as displaying web pages and adding annotation directly from smartphone or tablet, so it does not only send still images and videos. You can even control the projectors remotely from the app.

The Projectors Wireless Connectivity Advantage

Both EX5220 and EX7220 have one big advantage, which is wireless connectivity allowing you to control and send documents or photos from without using cable of any kind.

The EX5220 actually has enough features to be considered good, practical, portable projector, but the top of the range model brings the irresistible resolution improvement.
